TYBA Calls for Volunteers: Marine Regulatory Working Group
The Thailand Yachting Business Association (TYBA) is seeking members and industry representatives to participate in a new working group focused on regulatory issues affecting Thailand’s yachting and marine industry.
TYBA has identified several areas where existing regulations and administrative procedures may be creating unnecessary difficulties for marine businesses, visiting yachts and superyachts. Initial areas for review include NBTC type approval and importation of marine VHF, AIS and other communications equipment; importation and recognition of internationally certified marine safety equipment; immigration arrangements for professional superyacht crew; and immigration procedures for foreign yachts travelling between Thai provinces.
Before making formal recommendations to government, TYBA believes it is important that the industry works together to properly understand the issues, gather real examples and identify practical solutions.
We are therefore looking for volunteers with relevant knowledge or experience, particularly marine electronics importers and distributors, equipment suppliers, yacht agents, captains, marinas, boatyards, marine technicians and other businesses that regularly deal with these regulations.
The working group will document how the current processes operate, identify the specific problems encountered by industry, review the relevant laws and regulations, and work towards recommendations that can be discussed constructively with the Marine Department, NBTC, Immigration and other relevant government agencies.
This is not intended simply as a forum for complaints. Our objective is to bring together the people who understand these issues first-hand and develop practical, well-supported recommendations that benefit both the industry and government.
