Phuket Yacht Haven GM of many years mourned – Nick Wyatt

It is with great sadness that the mariners and yachting fraternity of Phuket mourn the passing of Nick Wyatt, who was the General Manager of Phuket Yacht Haven from November 2002 to November 2016.

Nick was far more than an outstanding marina manager, he was one of the people who helped establish Phuket as an internationally respected superyacht destination during the early growth of the industry. Through his professionalism, leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence, he played a pivotal role in making Yacht Haven the premier superyacht marina in Thailand and one of the most respected facilities in Southeast Asia.

To captains, owners, crew, agents, and everyone involved in the marine industry, Nick was the reassuring face of Yacht Haven. Whether arranging berths, provisioning, fuelling, logistics, or simply offering practical advice and a warm welcome, he approached every challenge with calm competence, integrity, and good humour. His knowledge of the industry was second to none, but it was his generosity, kindness, and genuine friendship that people will remember most.

Nick’s infectious sense of humour, his easy camaraderie, and his willingness to help made him a beloved figure throughout the Phuket marine community. He welcomed people from every corner of the world and built friendships that endured long after yachts had sailed. To many, he was not simply a marina manager, he was a mentor, a trusted friend, and one of the enduring personalities who helped shape the spirit of Phuket’s yachting community.

His contribution to the development of Phuket as a world-class superyacht hub cannot be overstated. The respect he earned throughout Thailand and across Southeast Asia stands as a testament to a life dedicated to the sea and to those who made their lives upon it.

On behalf of the mariners, yacht owners, captains, crew, brokers, marine businesses, and the wider yachting community of Phuket, we extend our deepest condolences to Zara and to all of Nick’s family and loved ones.

Nick Wyatt leaves behind a legacy that will live on in every yacht that finds a welcome in Phuket, in every friendship he forged, and in the community he helped build. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever regarded as one of the true gentlemen of Phuket’s yachting fraternity.

Fair winds and following seas, Nick. Your berth is secure, your watch is done, and your wake will be felt for many years to come.
